Celebrating the life of
Saundra Kay Burke Leon
February 23, 1942 - April 17, 2018
TOWNSEND _Saundra Kay Burke Leon passed away on April 17, 2018 surrounded by family.
She was born in Gastonia, NC on February 23, 1942 to the late Jesse Burke and Louise Dow. A private family Celebration of Life was held in her honor, as one of her final wishes.
She is survived by her sister, Barbara Jean Burke Fox, her children, Barbara Leon Dornbusch (Jerrett), George John Leon IV, Jessica Leon Brack (Michael), and Christopher “Trey” Leon (Leah), 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Her son, George, served selflessly as her primary caregiver, a selflessness he inherited from her. She would give anyone her last dollar, a bed to sleep in, a home cooked meal, no questions asked. Saundra never met a stray animal she didn’t take in and leaves behind five beloved dogs and a bird.
Remembrances may be made to Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Newnan, GA, or Shriners Hospitals for Children in Greenville, SC.

Beautiful picture of a beautiful friend.... I miss talking to her. . It is so hard to lose GOOD friends. George was a very loyal son to help her ...BUT the family all helped him also....... pulled together to make her life a little easier.. .Life is so short. Enjoy every day, and hug your love ones.
