Allan Maxwell Chagan

Allan Maxwell Chagan

Allan Maxwell Chagan passed away Monday, September 19, 2022.  He was born August 25, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Dr. Franklin Albert and Joyce Guthrie Chagan. Allan graduated from the Episcopal Academy in 1960 and then from Colgate University in 1964 with a degree in economics. He was also an All American and Captain of his soccer team while at Colgate.  He went on to receive a master’s in business from American University. Allan was in the Army signal corps and served in Vietnam. 

In Gloucester, Massachusetts, he co founded Atlantic Diving Company, which eventually became SeaTech International. Upon moving back to the Philadelphia area, Allan built custom built homes and later ran Town and Country Dry Cleaners.Allan also co-founded Impact Thrift a Christian non profit. Allan also served on the Chamber of Commerce for Hatboro, PA.  

Upon retiring, Allan and his wife moved to Savannah, Georgia where he served as deacon at Grace Church of the Islands. 

Allan was a devoted family man and a loyal friend. He is survived by his wife, P.J. Chagan of Savannah; son, Jebb Chagan (Julie) of Conshohocken, PA; daughter, Heidi Bristol (Clark) of Savannah; son, Matthew Chagan (Pip) of Kent, England; and six grandchildren, Cole, Nathan, Jack, Matthew, Greta, and Margot, and nieces Caitlin Chagan and Joyce Chagan. 

A Memorial Service will be Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Church of the Islands, 6901 Concord Road, Savannah, GA 31410  (Wilmington Island).

It is sad knowing Allen is gone from us now, but he with the Lord. He was so easy to be with, having also served in Vietnam, I feel a brotherhood. Allen is missed. My condolences to his family.
