Albert "Al" Stephenson

Albert “Al” Stephenson, of Richmond Hill, GA., passed on September 3, 2022, at St. Joseph Hospital in Savannah GA surrounded by loved ones. He was 85. Al was a graduate of Richmond Academy in Augusta GA., earned his bachelors at Presbyterian College in Clinton SC, and completed his Master’s in Physics at North Dakota State University in Fargo.

Albert was predeceased by his first wife, Bess Cullison Stephenson. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Elma S. Stephenson, step-daughter Julie Getty (Bill Lucas), John Stephenson (Beverly), Carol  Davis (Jeff), Charles Stephenson, (Sarah); grandchildren – JT, (Ashley), Bethany (Douglas), Kristen (Micah), Jeffrey, Lauren, Hannah, Jewell, Harrison, and Garrett;  and five great-grandchildren, Sophia, Tate, Caroline, Eliza, and Adalyn. Special surviving family members are Dr. Charles Tant, Barbara, and Steven.

Albert was a physicist for Savannah River Nuclear Plant in Akin SC. Prior to his retirement he enjoyed competing in tennis tournaments, fishing and became an avid golfer upon retirement.

Visitation will be 1:00 p.m., with the Funeral Service at 1:30 p.m, Friday, September 9, 2022, at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel - 7200 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah GA 31406

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
