Joan Morel Mathews, went to her heavenly home on August 3, 2022 after a short illness.  Joan was a graduate of St. Vincent’s Academy in 1952.  She also attended Armstrong State College and worked a short time as an x-ray Tech.  She worked as a Poll Manager for almost 25 years for the Elections Board.  She was the President and CEO of Italian Sausage Co-Op and Cannarella Enterprises, Inc. until her death.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A.C. Tony C. Mathews, and her son, Tony C. Mathews. 

She is survived by her daughters, Anna Maria Thomas (Russell), and Joan K. Mathews, daughter-in-law, Dianna G. Mathews.  Also surviving are her grandkids, Ashley O’Neil, Tiffaney LaTouche, Anthony, David, and Michael Mathews, and Russ Thomas.  She had 13 great-grandchildren who loved her dearly.

Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 8, 2022 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.

Burial will follow in Greenwich Cemetery.
