Jane McRee Melcolm McClain, age 91, passed away July 17, 2022. Jane was born in Savannah, Georgia, and was the daughter of the late Douglas Arthur and Margaret (Parker) Melcolm. Jane moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1940, and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School.

After high school, Jane was employed by The Prudential Insurance Company of America. Jane and her husband, the late Ray Clifton McClain, Sr., were married on February 14, 1953 and resided in Jacksonville from 1955 to 2018.

Jane served as a homemaker and stay-at-home mom from 1955 to 1977. In 1977 she served at the flagship store of Underwood Jewelers, where she received recognition for excellence in sales.

In November 2018, after her husband Ray passed away, she moved to Savannah, Georgia. She was a charter member of Lake Shore Family Fellowship in Jacksonville, Florida.

Jane is survived by her daughter, Karen McClain Hamrick; son, Ray C. McClain, Jr. (Rebecca); and grandchildren, Catherine Jane Hamrick Evans (Rev. Jared M. Evans); Dr. Kathleen McRee Hamrick; Christopher A. McClain (Lindsay); and Matthew G. McClain.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 11 AM in the sanctuary of Lake Shore Family Fellowship, 2246 Blanding Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida 32210. A visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 10 AM in the sanctuary.
