Elizabeth Weeks Sellers

Elizabeth Weeks Sellers

Elizabeth Weeks Sellers

Following a four- year fight with cancer, Mrs. Elizabeth “Beth” Weeks Sellers (née Elizabeth Doty Weeks) died on July 12, 2022, at home in Columbia, Maryland, with her children by her side. Beth was born to Stephen Elmo Weeks and Olna Elizabeth “Beth” Solana Weeks in Savannah, Georgia on June 28, 1954, the youngest of four children. She spent her formative years in Savannah, Georgia, where she attended and graduated from Savannah Country Day School. After attending school at Mary Baldwin University, Beth married her high school sweetheart, Commander Charles “Chuck” Edgar Sellers in 1975. Beth was a proud military wife and supported Chuck throughout his time at the Naval Academy and then his 22-year tenure in the Navy. With her family by her side, Beth went on many adventures and saw so much of the world. Of all of the adventures she went on, though, being a mom was Beth’s favorite by far. Beth was a mom whose sole focus was her children’s well-being, successes, and happiness, almost constantly attending practices and games, rehearsals and recitals, and all while ensuring her kids’ academic success, too. Beth always provided open arms and a shoulder to cry on, and even more, she gifted the world with a welcoming spirit where friends and family alike could find shelter away from the difficulties of their everyday lives. She created a home with Chuck in which all felt welcome, and most nights she would set an extra place at the table for those that were family even if not by blood. She created a warm house, filled with love, stability, and joy. Countless friends of her kids recount stories of acceptance, safety, and care in the home that Beth built with Chuck, with many modeling their own marriages after Beth’s and Chuck’s many years later. Beth’s impact reached far beyond her own kids, and her love will be felt in the hearts of many for generations to come. She is predeceased by her husband, Charles “Chuck” Edgar Sellers, and one son, Chisholm Solana Sellers.

She is survived by her children, Charles “Chad” Doty Sellers and his wife, Jennifer, of Columbia, Maryland, Elizabeth Anne Sellers Lanford and her husband, Scott, of San Antonio, TX, and Caroline Elise Sellers Fiertz and her wife, Natalie, of Rockville, Maryland, as well as two granddaughters, Molly Anne Sellers and Leah Rose Sellers and two grandsons, Charles “Charlie” Lee Lanford and Maxwell “Max” Davis Lanford.

Beth is also survived by her brothers, Stephen E. Weeks, Jr. (Sharon), James M. Weeks (Joyce), Carl Weeks, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 15, 2022 at Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Greenwich Cemetery.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Elizabeth may be directed to support gynecologic oncology research at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center.
