Mary Wilkes Lynn

Mary Atkinson Wilkes Lynn died peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 5. Mrs. Lynn was born in Washington County, Georgia, on November 14, 1929, the daughter of Clinton A. and Edna Earl Cofer Atkinson. A founder and co-owner of C&S Upholstery on Bull Street, Mrs. Lynn was active in her church, Trinity United Methodist and a member of the Savannah Elks Auxiliary. She loved to travel the world and entertain friends and family. Mrs. Lynn was predeceased by her first husband James Carlton Wilkes, her daughter Barbara, and her second husband James (Jimmy) Kenneth Lynn, a native of Collins, Georgia.

She is survived by her niece; Vickey Hall, nephew; Steven Mark Hall, stepson; Charles Mark Lynn, sisters-in-law; Imogene Lynn Hancock and Kay Lynn Westberry, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn were fortunate to have Ms. Earnestine Williams as their dedicated housekeeper for 32 years. In her final years, Mrs. Lynn received loving care from Home Instead Health Care Services. Whether they were riding her around town or chasing her down the street when she went “for a walk,” Mrs. Lynn’s caregivers provided compassionate and exceptional care.

Visitation will be Friday, July 8 at 5pm to 7pm at Fox and Weeks Funeral Home on Hodgson Memorial Drive in Savannah, GA, with a funeral service to follow at the same location Saturday at 10am. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery where Mrs. Lynn will join her beloved Jimmy in their final resting place.

sweet sweet Mary... so fun, so funny whether you were dancing with your caregivers or taking a hike down the street....you knew how to make us laugh.... And of course, always a lady... I referred to you as "the madam" when communicating with your CG's and for a good reason.... when I pulled the sheet over your shoulders Tuesday morning, you were so weak but I heard you say "thank you".... I will miss you....vikki graham

I'm so sorry to hear of Mary's passing but I know how much she will be missed! I'm still recovering from back surgery where I also came home with a blood clot in my calf which has slowed my recovery a great deal, I've left a voicemail for u Vickii & will be praying for everyone!

Mrs. Lynn will truly be missed. She would always hold my hand & tell me what a good job I did. Ending the conversation with “I love you.” Such a sweet, loving, caring lady.

I knew Mr. and Mrs. Lynn from Trinity United Methodist Church. They were always so kind to me and I will always remember them fondly.
