Ann Dowling Farr

Ann Dowling Farr

Ann Dowling Farr, 97, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2022 at her residence.  Born March 20, 1925, she attended local schools, and was an honor graduate of Armstrong State College in 1983.  She was an accountant for Union Camp Paper Corporation and retired from there in 1989 after fifteen years of service.

Mrs. Farr was a faithful communicant of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.  Prior to Blessed Sacrament, she attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 75 years, Joseph D. Farr, parents, William Patrick Dowling and Marie Stegin Dowling, daughter, Margaret Farr Mineart, brothers, Fr. William P. Dowling, Jr., and Joseph S. Dowling, and her sisters, Mary Dowling Rossiter and Lillian Dowling Odom.

Surviving are her son, Joseph D. Farr, Jr, of Pooler, GA and her daughter, Susan Marie Farr of Savannah, GA.  She is also survived by one grandson, Joseph D. Farr, III, (Jess) and four granddaughters, Catherine E. Mineart, Denise Farr Smulevitz (Morry), Allison Farr Thorpe (Leonard), and Laina Ann Farr, and eight great-grandchildren, Michael A. and Kayla L. Mineart, Olivia and Sophia Smulevitz, Mackenzie, Madison, and Mason Thorpe, and Jaxson D. Farr; and a great-great grandson; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary Service at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Fox & Weeks, Hodgson Chapel. 

Mass of Christian Burial will 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.  Burial will be in Bonaventure Cemetery.

Remembrances may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Benedictine Military School or Blessed Sacrament Building Fund.

So sorry to read of Mrs. Farr's death. She and Mr. Farr were celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary when we celebrated our 50th at the Cathedral. I remember her well from Sacred Heart School, where my mother managed the lunch room.
