Celebrating the life of

Julia Ann Krulic

Passed away on May 29, 2022

Julia Ann Krulic

Julia Ann (“Judy”) Jeffords Krulic died in Savannah, Georgia, on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at age 79.  Judy was born in Sylvester, Georgia, on February 27, 1943, to the late Mary Cromley and David George Jeffords, Jr., and grew up there, graduating in 1961 from Worth County High School.  She then attended Huntington College in Montgomery, Alabama, receiving her Bachelor of Arts in 1965.

She moved to Savannah in 1976, and she spent her career helping children and families in need through her work at the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services, until she retired in 1997.  She was a devoted member of St. John’s Church in Savannah and was part of the Women of St. John’s.  For years, she enjoyed the fellowship of Jane’s Canners, as she met every Wednesday to can preserves, jellies and chutneys to sell at the annual St. John’s Bazaar.  She also was a member of The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America.

Judy had a kind, generous heart, a quick wit, and a love of learning.  She was the family historian and genealogist and always had an interesting story to tell about her latest research.  She loved the opera and was a founder and dedicated supporter of the Savannah Voice Festival.  She touched the lives of countless young artists through her scholarship, sponsorship, and hospitality, opening her home for artists to stay during the Festival for almost 10 years. She stayed in close contact with the many friends that she made and travelled frequently to hear them perform.

She is survived by her husband John Wesley Krulic; her sister Jane Jeffords Houston; her sister-in-law Mary Frances Collins (Thomas); her nieces and nephews Julia Ann Houston, Susan Elizabeth Houston Hargove (Jon), David George Jeffords IV (Jessica), Sara Elizabeth Jeffords, Charlie Bartol (“Bart”) Krulic, III (Laura), Sterling (“Bryce”) Krulic (Brooke), Rebecca Elizabeth Collins Smith (Billy), and Mary Jennifer Collins Long (Michael); and many great nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her brother David George Jeffords III, her brother-in-law Charlie Bartol Krulic, Jr., and her nephew Jeffrey Cail Collins.

The family would like to express its gratitude to Dr. Roland Summers, her doctor and dear friend, for his care and kindness.

A service will be held Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Church of Savannah.  A reception will immediately follow at the Green-Meldrim House, where the family will receive friends.  A private burial will be held in Sylvester, Georgia, at a later date.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Church or the Savannah Voice Festival.

GUEST BOOK

She was the eyes and ears of our neighborhood. She rarely missed spotting a strange vehicle or someone walking without direction. She also let me know rather succinctly how foolish I was to be walking around on my roof pressure washing. It was like negotiating with my mother and we all know how that turns out. A true southern lady, a loyal and devoted friend, a coveted neighbor. Our heartfelt condolences to you Wes. John & Megan

Wesley, Jane, Julia, Susan, David, Sara and other family members. So sorry to hear about Judy. Her family was so important to her. I'm sure by now she has already asked old Harmon Van Rensselaer Jeffords where he was from. Prayers for all of you.

- Jennifer Cone, Grady County, Georgia

Judy was a dear friend. We enjoyed working on genealogy and finding resources that told us about family members. We also enjoyed canning and finding fruits and vegetables that we could use to make a good chutney or preserve. She will be missed.

- Jane Pressly, Savannah, GA

While I did not know your wife Wesley, I do know you from the “good ole days” and wanted to offer my condolences . Prayers for you and the rest of your family.

Wesley, I have JUST heard of your loss. Judy was a genuine, gracious, and sincere lady. I share fond memories of our excursions. I share the void that you must feel, and my prayer is that our Heavenly Father will fill that void with wonderful memories. May our Lord richly bless you always. Sincerely, Edwin
