Celebrating the life of
George W. Yost, Jr.
Passed away on May 14, 2022
George W Yost Sr. (1930- 2022 age 91)
George Yost Sr. passed away peacefully on May 14, 2022, in Savannah Georgia following a 71-year marriage to his childhood sweetheart, Grace Stracuzzi. They were blessed with four children, nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
George was an all-conference baseball player at Kent State University where he was a four-year starter with a career batting average of .371. Despite invitations from several major league baseball teams, including the NY Yankees, he chose to be a high-school German and Spanish teacher and dedicate his life to others. George was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and spent a year teaching English in Stuttgart Germany, still a memorable experience for his entire family. Also an inspiring baseball coach at Glen Rock High School, his 1972 team was inducted into the Glen Rock sports hall of fame.
After 34 years of teaching, George retired to enjoy reading, volunteering with the Knights of Columbus and St. Vincent DePaul, playing softball, golf, and tennis, and spending quality time with his family and grand-dogs.
George was a kind and loving husband and father, a role model for his family and all who knew him. In his memory please perform an act of kindness for someone less fortunate.
John and Family, Lynn and I send our deepest sympathies to you and your family on the loss of your father. From the obituary he sounds like an incredible father. We are sure the loss is deeply felt by the entire family and as always we here if you need anything. Lynn and George

Herr Yost was my German teacher for a few years. We all loved his class. He used to sing songs with us in German and I can still remember many of them. Condolences and peace to your family.
