Celebrating the life of

Ethan Bland

March 05, 2004 - May 15, 2022

Ethan Bland

Ethan Scott Bland was an incredible son and brother, a diligent student, a strong leader, and a loyal friend.  He went to Heaven to meet His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 15, 2022 at the young age of 18 as a result of injuries sustained as a passenger in a vehicle accident.  Ethan was born on March 5, 2004 in Savannah and was a member of Compassion Christian Church.  He attended St. Andrew’s School beginning in PK-4 and was just a few days away from attending his graduation with a Full IB Diploma and many awards and honors.  He was accepted Early Action to UGA, his dream school, and he was excited about attending in the Fall.  His career goal was to become a pediatric gastroenterologist.  Ethan, sometimes known as Chief Eeth or just E for short, was an avid athlete who loved playing and watching just about any sport.  In particular, he loved basketball and soccer.  He was a fierce goalkeeper and a captain of the team this year.  He only played football for a couple of seasons but he became the starting running back and middle linebacker in his senior year as a captain of the team.  But he loved his family and friends much more than sports.  He enjoyed spending time with friends just about anywhere but he especially loved being in the sun, at the beach, or near the saltwater.  To know Ethan was to know a kind and loving soul who could truly bring joy to those around him with his larger-than-life personality.  Ethan was considerate, smart, polite, funny and entertaining.  He loved music and his mom and dad loved to hear him sing when he thought no one was listening.  He was a great blessing to his family and he is survived by many that will have a void in their hearts that cannot be filled.

He is survived by his father and mother, Mr. Paul Bland and Mrs. Paula Bland, his brother, Cameron Bland, his grandmother, Mrs. Freddie Bland, and his uncle, Brian Bland (Allison).  He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Mr. E. Cameron Bland.

The family will have a Celebration of Life Service on Sunday June 5th at 4pm at Compassion Christian Church- Main Campus located at 55 Al Henderson Blvd., Savannah, GA 31419.

Flowers may be sent to Fox & Weeks (Hodgson Memorial Location) who will transport them to the Celebration of Life Service or donations may be made to Compassion Christian Church in memory of Ethan.

Ethan was one of my favorites from youth group at CCC. He was always willing to contribute and was engaged with a positive and engaging spirit. I remember my last conversation with him was after one of his basketball games and he came up and sat and talked with me for like 10 minutes when he could have been with friends. I remember thinking that I hope my boys end up having attributes like Ethan. Prayers for your family.
