Christopher “Chris” Robert Pelham, age 35, left this earth to enter into the eternal joy of Heaven on Friday, April 29, 2022.

Chris was the son of Rev. Mike and Brenda Pelham of Johnson City, Tennessee. He was the brother of Ryan Pelham and fiancé’ Patricia Boles of Nashville,Tennessee and also the brother of Adam Pelham of Denver, Colorado. Chris was making plans to soon be married to Jenny Alvarez of Aruba. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold and Virginia Pelham and Robert and Anita Sandifer. Family was everything to Chris! He loved us all so much and he also loved his extended family of many aunts, uncles and cousins!! He also cherished his many friends! What a true blessing…..that we all had the opportunity to love him, and to be loved by him!!

Chris was passionate about many things! In addition to the love that he had for his family and friends, he loved sports; and was enthusiastic about his teams; Manchester City Soccer and Duke Blue Devil basketball. He also had a passion for his work, and never met a stranger while trying to sell them the vacation of their dreams! He was quick witted, and he never wanted to work anywhere that he couldn’t wear flip-flops and shorts… So most of his jobs were on the beach!! Chris was always the life of the party, lighting up every room that he entered.

A celebration of Chris's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at  Spring Branch Baptist Church, 833 Deacon Road, Bamberg, SC. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the graveside service. The Reverend Ken Sandifer will be officiating.

Memorials may be made to the charity or church of your choice.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.”

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1:3-9‬

I am very sorry for your loss. Chris was a very special person and my closest friend. He will be missed by everyone that knew him because Chris was the guy that made it a point to tell his friends that he missed them. Chris had the most genuine and sincere soul of anyone I’ve ever met. I’m honored to know he called me his friends but sorrowful that I will never get those tight hugs he would embrace me with. Anyone that knew Chris told him how blessed he was to have such an amazing and close relationship with his family and Chris never missed an opportunity to let us know that he was very aware how BLESSED he was to have his family.

I have a lot of great memories with Chris that I’ll remember forever. He lived a full life and enjoyed every minute of it. Where ever he was people were laughing. Since I never really had a favorite soccer team I’ll be a Man City guy and think of CP every time I watch them play. Rest in peace brother.

- Jon Weaver, Chattanooga , TN

To the Pelham’s…Ever since Chris started at SHHS he made an immediate impact on all our lives. There was an instant connection from the day we met, up until his last days with us. I’m so very thankful for all the special memories we share. The laughs. The tears. The road trips. Including watching our favorite soccer teams face off against each other. I feel CP looking down with his big smile and know I will see him again. I’ll miss you so much my brother.

- Ryan Kind, Myrtle Beach, SC

Dear Mike, Brenda and family I am so sorry to hear about Chris. The memories that I have of him is when I had them during the church services at First Baptist Pageland. Brenda, Mike and Family, Sorry to hear of the loss of your son at a far too early stage in life. May God's loving grace sustain you in the coming days ahead and may you long remember the wonderful memories shared with Chris along with his siblings and extended family. Evelyn and I regret not being able to attend his funeral as "we also are getting old" and live a far distance from Spring Branch! We do however relish the times when we do travel to SC and have the opportunity to visit with the Sandifer family as Melfi and I did this past Summer. I will always cherish the great times I spent in the Midway and Spring Branch communities with my aunts, uncles and cousins. And Uncle Robert and Aunt Anita were right there at the tops. My prayers and condolences are with you as you transcend this grievous loss of life, but I know you are comforted by the fact that Chris is now soaring with angels. Our love and prayers to all.

- Earl Hansford Grubbs, Cranberry Township, PA

Our love and sympathy are with you at this difficult time. Chris's service was certainly a memorable tribute to his life.

- Neal and Paula Kirkley, Pageland, SC

So sad to hear the news about Chris. He stayed with me for six weeks about five years ago in Savannah. We shared a lot of steak on the grill, he always went through the whole recipe he learned from his dad. Chris was a passionate man and I am certain he is with Christ right now. Be blessed my friend.

- Aaron from Savannah, Savannah, GA

Mike and Brenda, you may not remember me, but I am sure Brenda will remember my husband, Cecil, that worked with her at Hathaway Percy Funeral Home. I just learned of your son's passing and I am so sorry for your loss. Cecil passed away in January but I know he would have been praying for your comfort and peace. Again, I am so sorry to just now be making contact. Love and prayers, Phyllis Eggers
