Bert Oliver McCabe Peterson

Bert Oliver McCabe Peterson, age 73, of Anderson, SC, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Rainey Hospice House.

Born November 5, 1948, in Savannah, GA, she was the daughter of the late Jack Howard Oliver and Marion Judkins Oliver.

Bert was a 1966 graduate of Jenkins High School and received a bachelor’s of education degree from Columbia College. A lifelong educator, Bert’s passion in life was her 30 plus year teaching career. She enjoyed dancing, sports, and beach music. She was a loving mother and grandmother who cherished spending time with her grandchildren. She will be remembered by many as a passionate and caring individual who tirelessly gave her time, resources, and love to numerous people, and of course, her dogs.

She is survived by her children, Drew McCabe (Lesley), and Ashley McCabe Wolfe-Elder (Chris); three sisters, Shirley Oliver Donaldson (Glenn), Jenny Oliver Brearton (Chris), Lee Oliver Tunilla (Randy); and seven grandchildren, Ann Carson McCabe, Andrew Cameron McCabe, Adam Caleb McCabe, Olivia Marion Mowat, Claudia Elizabeth Mowat, William James McCabe Mowat, and Florence Mary Diana Wolfe-Elder.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Troy Waring McCabe.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 in Bonaventure Cemetery.
