Celebrating the life of

Annetta Duckworth Ciarletta

Passed away on April 11, 2022

Annetta Duckworth Ciarletta

Annetta Duckworth Ciarletta, 86, passed away on April 11,2022 at Spanish Oaks Retreat after a sixteen year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born October 30, 1935 in Ashley County, Arkansas to Kenneth I and Stella E Duckworth. Annetta was a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Monticello where she was a cheerleader and earned a degree in Early Childhood Education. While at the university she met her husband Louis C Ciarletta a star football player and the two married.

Annetta taught school for several years but soon gave up her career as an educator to raise a family and support her husband’s career in the building products industry.  The young family moved several times as Lou’s career took off taking them to Savannah then Jasper and Conroe, Texas before they finally settled back in Savannah in 1975.  She settled into their home in the Mayfair neighborhood and lived there for over 45 years.  She was an active member of Isle of Hope United Methodist Church where she taught in the preschool for several years. She was a naturally gifted artist who enjoyed painting and all creative endeavors.  Her attention to detail was uncanny.  She enjoyed history and collecting antiques and glass, educating herself and others on the topic.  Most of all she was a gracious southern lady who had the gift of hospitality and would always greet you with a smile right up to the very end of her life.  She was small in stature but fierce in defense of her family.  Her greatest joy was family and she devoted her life to caring for them.

She is survived by her three devoted children: Kenneth L Ciarletta (Tami) Waycross, Georgia; Kimberly Ciarletta Floyd (Clark) Savannah, Georgia; Thomas N Ciarletta (Jennifer) Acworth, Georgia; seven grandchildren: Kenneth L Ciarletta, Jr. Savannah, GA, Charles D Ciarletta Madison, GA; Sarah Ann Floyd Savannah, GA, John C Floyd IV “Jack” Savannah GA; Joshua T Ciarletta (Margaret) Marietta, GA, Laura C Derenski (Jeff) Marietta, GA; Benjamin T Ciarletta Acworth, GA; and three great grandchildren Aila Derenski, Barrett Derenski and Palmer Ciarletta.

The family would like to thank the staff at Spanish Oaks Retreat for caring for our mother like she was your own family.

Visitation will be held at Fox and Weeks Hodgson Memorial Chapel Thursday April 14, 2022 from 5-7pm.

A graveside service will be held at Greenwich Cemetery Friday, April 15 at 11am.

A reception will be held following the service for friends and family in the Clubhouse at Cohen’s Retreat 5715 Skidaway Road.

Lou & Annetta were very dear to us. We have the utmost respect and love for them. They lived a Christian life setting an awesome example of Christian disciples. They loved and encouraged me to see and experience the love of Jesus of which I will always be grateful for God putting them in our life. Lou , Allen McKinney and Carlton Parker what a great group that loved and encouraged me beyond anything I could ever imagine. I will always love and miss them deeply. Thanks for the memories Billy and Sonja Miller.

Tom, I remember spending time at your parents house when we were youngsters. Your Mother was always so kind and gracious! As difficult as it is to say goodbye, I know she would want her family to remember all of the great times you all had together. She was special as you all are as well.
