Elizabeth McCall (Betsy) Carufel
Passed away on March 26, 2022
Elizabeth McCall “Betsy” Carufel, 78, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at her residence under the care of Kindred Hospice.
She was born in Savannah, daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Pettus McCall. Mrs. Carufel was a graduate of Savannah High School and Albany Junior College with a degree in nursing. For many years she was a registered nurse with Candler Hospital and Memorial University Medical Center.
Mrs. Carufel was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her passion was cooking for her family and all of God’s animals.
Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Richard M. Carufel of Savannah; children, Krista C. Tompkins (Tommy) of Savannah; Carlie C. Baccus of Houston, TX; John Weatherford (Diane) of Rincon; Richard M. Carufel, Jr. of Wilmington, NC; Timothy Carufel and Michael Carufel both of Pittsboro, NC; eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 in Greenwich Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. prior to the graveside service at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
Remembrances may be made in memory of Betsy to Kindred Hospice, 2280 E. Victory Dr., Suite A, Savannah, GA 31404.
