Celebrating the life of

Lawrence Bullis "The Bull"

August 16, 1947 - March 16, 2022

Lawrence Bullis

Lawrence Joseph Bullis, Jr., “The Bull,” went to be with the Lord surrounded by his beloved wife of 53 years Mary Bistline Bullis, his daughters Cam and Katherine on the morning of March 16, 2022.

Larry was the son of Audrey and Lawrence Bullis, Sr. who never missed a single time to see him pitch baseball from grade school on. He met Mary at Presbyterian College where he was a Sigma Nu and the punter for the football team. They married on July 26, 1969 and after a time in the USAF, based at Randolph Air Field in San Antonio, TX he was blessed to remain stateside during the Vietnam War. After he and Mary had their two daughters, Mary Campbell Miller and Katherine Gordon Bullis, and spent several years with Mary’s father, Clarence “Bike” Bistline mentoring him in the sand business, they returned to his beloved hometown of Savannah.

Mary and Larry started Coastal Abrasives in 1977 and continued to diversify and expand those business ventures. Mary and Larry worked hard but spent innumerable great times with wonderful friends and family. Larry loved to play golf, offshore fish, dance, bird hunt, cheer on both the OU Sooners and the Georgia Bulldogs, and never wanted to leave a party early. He often said and even wrote down at some point over the years that he felt loved every single day of his life, and he was right.

He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his wife, Mary, daughters Cam Miller (Jon), Katherine, his granddaughters Katherine “Kelsey” Miller and Sarah Campbell Miller, and countless friends and other family.

The family will have a private service and will receive friends at the dockhouse at the Savannah Yacht Club at 12:00pm on Saturday, March 19, 2022. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to a charity of your choice may be made in his name.

I went to SHS with Larry and was so very sorry to hear about his passing. What I remember most about him was he always had a smile on his face. More importantly, he always made those around him smile, especially with his famous fake punt.

Cam and family, while having met your dad only briefly, I knew of him from others as being a great guy and full of life. Some even say a legend of his era in Savannah. I'd have to agree. He is and will surely be missed by a great number of friends that he had. I know that he must have been proud of his family, as you are of him. I know that I'm glad to have met him. May you're family find peace and comfort in the days ahead, and with memories that you'll have forever.
