Judy McCarthy Degenhardt

Judy Cecile McCarthy Degenhardt, 73, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022.  She was born May 20, 1948 in Savannah, GA to the late Aloysius Henry McCarthy and Mary Agnes Dominick McCarthy.  Judy was a 1966 graduate of St. Vincent’s Academy, and received her Associates Degree in Nursing from Armstrong State College.  She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, and was also a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. 

She was a Nurse Manager at Candler Hospital.  After her nursing career, she worked in the family business.  She retired in 2001.   

Surviving are her husband, Charles F. Degenhardt Jr., son, Dr. Charles F. Degenhardt III, (Marie), daughter, Debbie Haupt (Harold), seven grandchildren, Ethan, Hayden, Dina, and Nolan Haupt, Emily, Julia, and Elena Degenhardt, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Fox & Weeks, Hodgson Chapel.

Funeral Service will be 12:00 p.m., Friday, February 25, 2022 at Fox & Weeks, Hodgson Chapel, with Rev. Terri Degenhardt officiating.  Burial will be in Greenwich Cemetery. 

Remembrances may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
