Donald Leon Garletts, Jr.

Donald Leon Garletts, Jr. 67, died peacefully on Thursday, February 17, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

D.L. was born in Charlottesville, Virginia, a son of Donald Leon Garletts Sr. and Dorothy Jean Schaffer.  He attended Lane High School where he diligently pursued excellence on the football, baseball, Tennis, and Track teams.  His love for the game of tennis ultimately earned him a college scholarship to Chowan University in Murfreesboro, North Carolina.  After one season with Chowan University, he transferred to Georgia Southern University and went on to earn a professional status in 1976.

In 1978, D.L. married Regina Kay Roddenberry of Waycross, Georgia.  They have two children, John-David Garletts and Ashley Morgan Christopher.  His love for the game of tennis was equally paralleled by his love of business.  D.L. served as Vice President of Hilton Head Rental Center, a subsidiary of Chris Roddenberry Inc. for twenty-three years prior to its sale to a national corporation in 1999.  He then started his own companies DLG Land Management, Inc. and DLG Contractors, LLC., both of which he served as president for nineteen years.  D.L. was an active member of Compassion Christian Church and was member of the Band of Brothers Men’s Ministry.  He was never known to be a man who knew a stranger.  His sincere, honest, and genuine character allowed for many loving relationships to flourish during his lifetime.
