Celebrating the life of
Juana Jimenez
March 15, 1943 - February 11, 2022
Juana Jimenez, 79, died peacefully on Friday, February 11, 2022.
Juana was born in the small town of Moca, Dominican Republic to Antonia Aybar and Ramon Crespi Huels on March 15, 1943. Juana married Ramon Jimenez in 1962 in the Dominican Republic; where four of their seven children were born. Juana and Ramon immigrated to Tarrytown, NY in 1967. As a young mother, Juana cared for her six children. After teaching herself to sew, Juana made all of the clothing for her six children while Ramon worked as a chef at local restaurants. The birth of their 7th child was an unexpected blessing for the entire family. As the older children started to marry and move away, Juana and Ramon dreamed of moving back to their home country.
Juana lost her oldest son, Rafael Jimenez and then lost her second oldest, Luis Jimenez. Juana later lost her husband, Ramon Jimenez, to cancer in 2014. After the death of Ramon, Juana moved in with her youngest daughter, Elizabeth who resided in Savannah, GA for the past 19 years. Elizabeth and Juana were like partners in crime, never ever being separated.
Juana was a faithful communicant of Saint Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. Juana’s passion was her family. She especially enjoyed dancing and singing Karaoke with her kids and grandkids. Juana always said when all the kids and grandkids and great grandkids got together….it was a readymade party.
Juana is survived by her daughter Adriana Merigliano, Mercedes Gallagher, Adel Henriquez; a son, Johnny Jimenez; daughter, Elizabeth Wellington; sister, Mercedes Hernandez; and a brother, Freddy Vargas Aybar. Juana leaves several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews that will dearly miss her fun spirit and loving heart.
Dear Adriana, You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. I'm sorry I never got the opportunity to meet your mother, but knowing the wonderful woman you are is a testament to how great of a woman she was. She has went from labor to reward. May God continue to put his loving arms around you and the rest of your family during this time.

It’s so hard to find words but I know how important it is for you all to know that your grief is shared outside your family circle. My prayers for you all our extra because I know how frantic the situation was with your sweet mom away from home and your loving arms. I am only on the outside ring of love your family shares, and even so, I saw clearly your Mama was the jewel in the center. Right now I struggle to feel the joy of her reunion with her beloved Lord and Heavenly Hosts, it’s still too new. The truth is, however, that your mom’s unshaking beautiful faith certainly has borne me up in the past, I know it will again. Especially today at her Mass. I hope it helps to know my family sees her legacy in the Jimenez girls. Amen.
