Kathleen Therese Higgins Orzada

Kathleen Therese Higgins Orzada passed away peacefully on February 4, 2022. 

Kathleen was born in Brooklyn, New York to the late Maurice and Christine Higgins.  In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her sister Maureen Higgins and brother Donal Higgins.

Kathleen graduated from Bay Ridge High School.  She proudly worked on Wall Street in New York City before moving to Dallas, Texas where she met and then married Edwin Orzada in 1960.  The family moved to Savannah in 1968.  In Savannah, Kathleen was highly involved in her children’s education to include serving as a PTA President at Saint James Catholic School. She was also a long-time employee in the leadership offices of Armstrong State College.   

Kathleen is survived by her husband of 62 years, Edwin Orzada.  Kathleen is also survived by her children, Christine Hill and her husband Greg, James Orzada and his wife Donna, Michael Orzada and his wife Belinda, and Maureen McDonnell and her husband Robert and her grandchildren Emily Orzada, Kevin Orzada, Christine McDonnell and Clare McDonnell.  Kathleen is also survived by her sister Eileen Lauterborn and her brother Michael Higgins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Saint James Catholic Church, 8412 Whitefield Avenue.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior to the Mass.

Interment will follow in Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be sent to Saint James Catholic Church.
