Celebrating the life of

Glenda (Enda) Sue Harden Anderson

August 10, 1940 - January 20, 2022

Glenda (Enda) Sue Harden Anderson

Glenda “Enda” Sue Harden Anderson, died peacefully on Thursday, January 20, 2022 surrounded by members of her family.

Glenda was a very kind, special lady and it was obvious the moment you met her. Glenda was the youngest of three daughters born on August 10, 1940 to J.L. and Allene Harden in Laurens County, Georgia. She attended Stilson Elementary, Southeast Bulloch High School and graduated from Georgia Southern University and the University of Georgia graduate program. She was a Business Education public school teacher and retired after 35 years, the last 32 at Clarke Central High School in Athens, Georgia.

She married her high school sweetheart and beloved soulmate Jackie Anderson on July 1, 1962 and the pair lived on the East coast, West coast, and in-between. They always made lifelong friends in each town they set foot in.  In 2004, Glenda and Jackie retired to Savannah to be close to their daughter, Kelli Anderson Weis, and their granddaughter, Kathryn Anderson Lewallen. They attended Isle of Hope United Methodist Church where Glenda was a member of the Berean Sunday School Class and a strong supporter of the Good Samaritan Circle.  She also gave her time as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Inner City Night Shelter.

Her spirit lives on in her husband and daughter, son-in-law, Albert Weis, adored granddaughter Kathryn Anderson Lewallen; grandsons, Albert and Sam Weis, faithful cat Victor; grand-dog bestie, Lulu and oldest sister, Betty Knight of Bulloch County. She recently lost her middle sister Faye Kennedy of Pelham, Georgia.

Glenda was a faithful servant of the Lord and the epitome of compassion and gentleness. Words cannot express the depths of her kindness and devotion to others. From her heavenly vista, between “piddlin” and helping others find their way, she’ll be communicating loving texts filled with her favorite emojis. Forever, we will keep Glenda close in our hearts as she watches over us.

Visitation will be held at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Memorial on Tuesday, January 25 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Isle of Hope United Methodist Church with Rev. Meg Procopio officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, 412 Parkersburg Road, Savannah, GA 31406 or St. Jude's Hospital

Dear Kelly, Jackie and Family: It goes without saying that you have our deepest love and sympathy at this time. Personally, Glenda was a very special friend, whose laughter and love was infectious. Remembering her alive is so easy because of her pleasant nature. Quick to laugh, to serve and to project the very best love to everyone from her students to her friends. She was the dutiful golfer's wife, knowing that in her home, a golfer lived with her, while she was the "normal" one. Loved and deeply missed. Herb and Phyllis Meyer

Kelli, I am so sorry you lost your Mom. I did not have a chance to get to know her personally but because my Mom raved about her on several occasions it felt like I knew her well. I get very sad when amazing people exit the world because I feel like they are few and far between. Just wanted you to know I am thinking about you. Celia H.

- Celia Howell, Savannah, Ga.

Jackie and Kelli, From the day we first met you and Glenda in Athens, your family was special to us. We could tell from the start that you were people of strong values who cared for and shared with others. Our homes in Forest Heights and our jobs as teachers/coaches/administrators brought us even closer together. Though time and distance have kept us apart in recent years, we have always known our friendship has abided. Glenda was kind to everyone, and her loving spirit extended to all of us.

- Frank Booth III, Gainesville, GA

Oh Glenda, you will be sorely missed. We loved your quiet and quick smile that would light up the room. When it turned to laughter, we might be in tears watching you laugh quietly, but completely! The love you and Jackie had for each other and for family and friends is one for the record books. You are all in our prayers. Heidi and Andy Simmonds Athens, GA

It was with such sadness that I heard the news of Glenda’s Homegoing. She was such a lovely person and delightful to be around. I can see her beautiful smile and infectious laugh now as I remember her in the neighborhood and as a faithful part of our church in Athens, St James UMC. My prayer are with you, Jackie and Kelli!

Dear Jackie and Family: we have never met but I am a friend of Scotty's. I am so sorry for your loss of your Sweet Wife Glenda, mother of your children and grandmother to your grandchildren. Scotty has always talked with such admiration and love for her. She was quite accomplished and loved by all who knew her. I pray all the wonderful memories will bring you comfort in this time of grief and sorrow. Hopefully, in time, those memories will bring smiles to you once again. May God hold you all in the palm of his hand and grant you strength and peace.

- Elaine M Cereghini , Kennesaw , Georgia

Glenda was a good friend. She always had a smile and a kind word. I found an email she sent to me after my husband passed away, encouraging me, telling how proud she was of me and brave I was. It meant so much to me that I printed it and saved it. I know she will be missed by all of her family and friends.

- Kay DuBose, Ellabell, GA

I remember her vividly as one who never spoke ill of anyone and who enjoyed a gentle laugh or two. She was one of those people who were good to the core. You were a wonderful match and I know you will mss her for the rest of your life. Al Cash
