John Barry Russell

John Barry Russell, 52, of Savannah, GA, passed away on January 14, 2022. “Barry” was born on April 11, 1969, to John Russell and Sharon Forbes Russell in Savannah, GA. He attended St. James Catholic School and went on to graduate from Benedictine Military School in 1987. He then went on to study at The University of Georgia and completed his B.S. in Criminal Justice from Armstrong State University.

In addition to having an entrepreneurial spirit, Barry worked in electrical sales and financial services in several locations, including Chattanooga TN., Savannah, GA., Beaufort, SC., and Las Vegas, NV.

In 1998 Barry married the former Dawn Crowe of Savannah, GA. Barry and Dawn started a family in 1999 and had two beautiful daughters, Isabelle and Madeline, both of Savannah, GA. As a child, Barry was affectionately referred to as “Bobo” by his family. As a dad, Barry enjoyed spending time with his girls, golfing, and watching the Georgia Bulldogs play.

Barry had many life-long friends from BC, college, and many of the Lowcountry golf courses. He was a loving and kind individual who treasured his family and left an everlasting mark on all those who had the fortune of knowing him.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Loreta Sikes Forbes Felix and John J. Forbes Sr., and paternal grandparents Brunelle Clifton Russell and Leroy Russell; his brother-in-law, Alan Bills (“AB”). He is survived by his wife Dawn Crowe Russell, his daughters Isabelle Emma Russell and Madeline Mackenzie Russell, all of Savannah, GA; his mother Sharon Forbes Russell and his father John e. Russell, both of Savannah, GA.; his sister Michelle Russell Bills Wilcox (Wade), his nephews Brandon Tyler Bills and Chandler Matthew Bills (Lennox), all of Atlanta, GA.; his mother and father-in-law, Command Sergeant Major Ret. Willie and Maria Crowe and family, all of Hinesville, GA.; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022 at St. James Catholic Church. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. A private burial will be held.
