William Daniel

Thunderbolt, GA

William Daniel “Billy” Reiser, 70, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2021 at Memorial Health University Medical Center with his wife by his side. Billy was born in Savannah on March 3, 1951 to the late Dan and Corine Todd Reiser.  He grew up on Wilmington Island, but had retired to Isle of Armstrong, Thunderbolt.

He was a former home builder and loved the construction trade.  He also loved cruises, the beach, outdoor music venues, attending Nascar races, and cheering on UGA football, all with a cold Budweiser in hand.

Billy could be stubborn in nature and disagreeable at times with family and friends, but in the end he truly did love each and everyone of them.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Barker Reiser; his sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Clifford Lake of Rincon; nephew, Charles, and niece, Robyn; brother-in-law, Jim Barker; sister-in-law, Ann Barker; several cousins; and countless friends.

A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks, Islands Chapel, with a memorial service following at 6:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks, Islands Chapel.

Mary, I am so sad for your loss.Billy was a life long friend, not many people you can say that of. It's hard to put a lifetime of memories in a few words . As I read the comments of old friends like Joe Odum and Tommy Tomlin it takes me back to when we were kids and carefree.Billy would stop by from time to time to catch up and once I asked him "How's Mary? as we talked he told me what a good woman you were and how lucky he was to have you .I hope you can take comfort in knowing how much you meant to him. I will miss my friend , think of him often and hope to see him again ! Steve Lane

My heart goes out to the Reiser family. At Savannah High Billy always took up for those who were bullied. He had a piece of his personality that you don't see in many men, & that part was somebody who was comfortable in his own skin. He didn't put on airs and he championed the weak over the strong. God Rest your weary soul Billy.

- Bill deVegter, Marietta, Ga.

Mary, prayers for you and the family. So glad i knew Billy! he will be missed.

- james l woods, savannah, GA

Dear Mae, I'm so sorry for your loss; know I'm thinking about you. Billy's big smile will always be missed. Love you.

- Gina k Barnes, Duluth, MN

I really can’t express my sorrow at hearing of Billy’s passing. So many times I’d thought of going to see Billy only to be distracted by some other “thing” Billy, at one point in our young lives we were so close, you were “Burr” and you called me “Hound Dog.” You were my best man at my wedding 48 years ago. I just can’t believe it. I don’t have words. We did so much together in our younger days. Now I’m coming Thursday to say goodbye. Death may seem cruel at the thought of it but life is cruel when we let it pass us by. My heart aches for you Mary I can’t express words of any value right now, I am shaken, stunned because I can never speak to Billy again in this life. If anyone reads my notes here, don’t put off what you may never get the chance to do or say. Rest in peace Billy. Artie

- Artie Helmey, Guyton, GA

Mary we are so sorry to hear about Billy's passing. I met Billy not long after I went into construction work 40 years ago. Two stubborn and hard headed individuals that didn't always agree but were friends in the end. We will miss seeing him on St. Patrick's Day and your visits to Florida.

- Kay & Jody Gorman, Saint Augustine, Florida

I met Billy at Richard Arnold in the 7th grade and remember that he was a good hearted ,and tough guy that later taught me how to smoke in the school playground. We continued to be friends all through high school at SHS but after that life took us in many different directions . Mary, I'm so sorry for your loss and ya'll are in my prayers . Remember John 14:1-6 and so many other scriptures that give us hope during this life's most difficult times.
