Evelyn Marie "Penny" Griffin
Passed away on December 23, 2021
Evelyn M. Griffin, 76, died peacefully December 23, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was born December 5, 1945, in Savannah, the daughter of John Herbert Oldfield Sr. and Evelyn Marie Oldfield (Brown).
Penny married the love of her life, Curtis Arnold Griffin, on January 18, 1980. They celebrated 41 years of marriage. She retired from the Chatham County Courthouse. Her pastime included painting, baking, and spending time with family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John Allen Barker. Surviving in addition to her husband, Curtis Arnold Griffin, are her three children Martha Constance “Connie” Barker, Crystal Olivia Hicks (Drew), and Sybil Marie Kirkland; siblings John Oldfield (Gay), Susan Hethcox (Brian), William Oldfield (Rita), Mark Oldfield (Tricia), Gail Tirey (Tim), Rebecca Walsh (James); six grandchildren, Ashley Hoer (Douglas), John Bradley Craft (Meryl), Joshua Craft, Tyler Craft, Kody Kirkland, and Ryan Hicks; five great grandchildren, Douglas Hoer Jr., Evelyn Hoer, Summer Craft, Curtis Hoer, and Sawyer Craft; and 24 nieces and nephews. Her memory and love will live on in the hearts of her family.
Memorial Services will remain private.
Those wishing to honor her life can make a donation in her name to the American Diabetes Association.
