Celebrating the life of

Robert C. "Bob" Bauman

January 25, 1951 - December 11, 2021

Robert C.

Robert C. “Bob” Bauman was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 25, 1951.  At the age of 4 he moved to Spartanburg, SC following the tragic death of his parents, Philip and Loree Bauman, in a car accident.  He was raised by his aunt and uncle, Floy Caldwell Cecil and Philip Schuyler Cecil, Jr.  He lived his life eternally grateful for their care.

Mr. Bauman was a 1969 graduate of Dorman High School.  In the mid-1970s he met his first wife and had his son, Robert, Jr. in 1977.  Following his son’s birth, he moved to Savannah, GA and worked as a longshoreman with ILA Local 2046.  As a member of The Landings Club, he exercised his lifelong passion for the game of golf.  He also loved diving, reading, riding his Harley Davidson, and competitive shooting.

In the early 90s he married his second wife and due to health issues he retired from the ILA and returned to Spartanburg until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia Bauman.  He leaves behind his son, Robert Bauman, Jr. of Savannah; step-sons, Jonathan Wells (Brian) of Anaheim, CA, and Joshua Wells (Amanda) of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Gabriel Steven Bauman, Carmen Wells, Caleb Wells, Keenan Wells, Cameron Wells, and Claire Wells; his brother, Schuyler Cecil (Lou); his sisters, Gail Ballard (Wayne), Janet Anderson (Jimmy), Betsy Sill (Joe), and Toria Murray (Eddie); cousins, Mimi Smith and Cheryl Pack; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to Coastal Pet Rescue of Savannah.
