Celebrating the life of

Robert Wilson Dailey

April 26, 1961 - December 14, 2021

Robert Wilson Dailey

Robert Wilson Dailey, age 60, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side, on December 14, 2021 after a courageous two year battle with lung cancer.

Rob was born on April 26, 1961 in Newton, New Jersey to Fred (Fritz) and Barbara Dailey. Rob was the oldest son of 5 siblings from an Air Force family, so he spent most of his childhood and early career traveling throughout various cities in the US and overseas. Rob eventually settled Savannah in 1987 and considered Savannah and Isle of Hope his true home. After an early career in the Air Force, Rob worked in finance and banking for more than 20 years, and was most recently employed as sales manager for Freightliner of Savannah for a team and company he truly loved.

Rob was a gentle soul with an easy going nature which allowed him to forge long lasting friendships both personally and professionally. A true outdoorsman, Rob was happiest on the water. As “unofficial Dock Master of Dutch Island” he was always ready to catch a rope, lend a hand, and especially offer advice on anything boat or fishing related. Rob was a quiet, understated man, strong in character with honest humility that was evident to everyone who knew him. His family often referred to him as “the Captain of our ship,” and knew they could weather any storm with him at the helm.

Rob loved his sons, Daniel and Connor, and took great pride in their many accomplishments.  While firm, he was always fair, and he instilled in them high values like responsibility, hard work, and integrity, all attributes he held for himself as well. His greatest joy was watching them excel and become the fine young men they are today.

Adored by his family, Rob is survived by his wife of 23 years, Susan, son Connor, son Daniel Sheehan, parents Barbara and Fritz Dailey, brothers Eric (Julie), and Mike (Johnye), and sisters Lisa, and Meg (Mike Combs) and many beloved nieces and nephew.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 17, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Memorial service will be held Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the same location at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, gifts can be given in his memory to Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, 412 Parkersburg Rd. Savannah, GA 31406 or to Hospice Savannah, 1352 Eisenhower Dr, Savannah, GA 31406 in appreciation for their comfort and care during our family’s time of loss.
