Johnnie Everett Dewitt, 91, died peacefully at home on Thursday, November 25, 2021

The native and lifelong resident of Savannah was born in the spring of 1930 to the late Joseph L. and Corrine Whitaker Dewitt. Johnnie was a graduate of Savannah High School and a member of the COBRA Club. Johnnie retired from Union Camp Paper after more than 30 years of service He was an avid TV watcher, especially enjoying western themes. 

In addition to his parents, Johnnie was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Clifton Dewitt; daugher, Debra Diane Dewitt; two brothers, Franklin Dewitt and Joseph L. Dewitt, Jr; three sisters, Mildred “Mitzie Covey, Josephine Walker, and Ernestine Melanchon.

Johnnie leaves behind 13 nieces and nephews, including two nephews, Kirk D. and Andrew Dewitt; and his longtime caregiver and friend, Elizabeth Gerow.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 in Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery with Rev. Gabe Cummings officiating. 

In lieu of flowers the family suggest you consider making a donation in Johnnies memory to a charity of your choice.
