Ben Lane Patterson, III, passed away on August 29, 2021 in Savannah, Georgia. Ben was born in 1955 to Ben Lane Patterson, Jr. and Bette Young Patterson. Ben was preceded in death by his parents.
Ben grew up on Isle of Hope in Savannah, Georgia, where his lifelong love of the coast began. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1977 and was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He received his law degree from Woodrow Wilson Law School. Ben spent most of his career in Real Estate working as a broker in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and Big Canoe, Georgia, before he settled into his dream job as an executive in the hospitality industry.
Ben loved the water and was fortunate to have lived near the coast most of his life. He was a history buff like his father and loved boating and traveling. He and his father enjoyed numerous trips all over the world including researching their ancestry in Ireland and Scotland. He was of course an avid Georgia Bulldog fan.
Ben was the epitome of a southern gentleman and it could be said that he never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and we just know he has a close eye on his beloved Dawgs this season.
A memorial service celebrating Ben’s life will be held at Whitefield Chapel at Bethesda Academy, 9520 Ferguson Ave., Savannah, Georgia, on November 1, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Refreshments immediately following service, at the Pavilion nearby.

Ben was an amazing man, he lived life to the fullest and always had time for everyone. He was a great friend who I miss every day and he will never be forgotten. To all his friends and family, Ben was the 'go-to' guy, the one person you could always count on to be there when you needed him. I know I speak for all my friends and family who knew Ben, that he will always be with us and Ben, we will see you again.
