Gwendolyn Johnson ConeyDecember 01, 1946 - October 06, 2021

Gwendolyn Johnson Coney, 74, died Wednesday, October 6, 2021at Memorial University Medical Center surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

She was born December 1, 1946, in Montreal Canada. She was an Army brat and moved from place to place, Boston, Florida, and Colorado before making Savannah her permanent home.

Mrs. Coney was a certified nursing assistant at Chatham Nursing Home and later retired from Georgia Regional Hospital. She was a member of First Jerusalem Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and a member of American Legion Post 500.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Sonny Milton Johnson and husband, Willie T. Coney.

Surviving are brothers and sister, Roger D. Johnson, Andrea Johnson, Rev. Phillip Johnson, Doris Johnson; children, Gwenzelda Parker, Anthony R. Hills (Pamela), Valerie Lawrence (Victor), Sonell M. Harris (Renee), Charles E. Hills, Nikardia Coney; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Anthony Parker, Jasmine Harris, Nina Simone Hills, Madison Nicole Hills, Azariah Hills, Vincent Lawrence, Koby Tisby, Nayla Tisby, Alex Tisby, Shakiem Bisard, Mia Coney, Christopher Parker, Alexia Parker, Charles Hills, Jr., Monisha Hills, Sydney Hills, Kayden Hills, Nicholas Giosto, King Justice Harris, Phillip Johnson, Jr., and Joi Miller Hills.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

It is required that all attending the service wear a mask and if you are experiencing any flu/cold symptoms, please do not attend.
