Celebrating the life of

Vivian Anderson Rahn

December 17, 1948 - September 26, 2021

Vivian Anderson Rahn

Vivian Anderson Rahn departed her amazing, wonderful life on September 26, 2021, with her children by her side.

Vivian was born on December 17, 1948, in Elberton, GA as the youngest of three girls to the late James Wester and Alma Smith Anderson. She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Hugh Parker Rahn (Hugo), and they lived the majority of their life in Richmond Hill, Ga .

Vivian was predeceased by her parents and husband. She is survived by her son, Wess Shannon Rahn (Kim); daughter, Amy Rahn Markowitz (Brian); four grandchildren, Hunter Rahn (Victoria), Wes Rahn, Reid Markowitz, and Evan Markowitz; sisters, Jeanette Thames (James) and Pat Anderson; several nieces, nephews, and her great grandson and very best friend, Weston Oliver Rahn.

Viv, who was known to many as “Honey”, lived life to the fullest. Her devotion to family was undeniable. Her family was her entire focus, and she was always present. Cooking was her way of expressing her love for friends and family. She was happiest being on the water and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs. There was never any doubt as to how she felt, she always told you, “ I love you so much it hurts my heart”.

Viv was fortunate to be able to remain at home with her children during their childhood. However, as they entered college, she needed a personal focus, which led to a job as a property manager at Melaver Inc. For the last 3 years, she found great joy working part time at Legacy at Savannah Quarters where she touched the lives of many residents.

Viv was a founding member of SMA Angels Charity.  For the past 24 years , she championed for all those affected by Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

The world has lost an extraordinary woman who was loved and adored by all. She was beautiful inside and out and showed it every single day through her kind words and actions. She once wrote if anyone asks how she wanted to be remembered, please say that she loved her family!

Friends wishing to honor her may make a donation in her name to SMA Angels Charity, a charity that was very dear to her heart.
SMA Angels Charity, PO Box 308, Richmond Hill, GA 31324 or SMAangels.org.

Per Viv's wishes, there will be a private service and celebration of her life.

Vivian was a truly remarkable person. I got to know her and Hugh when they owned a restaurant many years ago. She was always a delight to be around and seemed to genuinely appreciate my silly little jokes. I would have the honor and pleasure of seeing her occasionally over the years, and she never changed. She truly was beautiful inside and out. My Bride, Pat, and I kept her in our prayers and we will continue to pray for your family. God bless you all. Scrappy Jackson, Midway, Georgia

We were deeply saddened to learn of Vivian’s passing. My Mother in Law, Ursula just adored Vivian. She was always so friendly and positive and uplifting in her role at Legacy of Savannah Quarters. She was definitely one of my Mother in Law’s favorite people. For me, while I did not know her well, still she was a source of comfort for me. When my husband; Ursula’s son was gravely ill, she was so good about bringing Ursula to my home so she could visit with Tony. She always hugged me and said such nice things to bolster me during this sad time. Our prayers to all of Vivian’s family for their terrible loss. Heaven certainly gained an angel with Vivian.
