Celebrating the life of

Elizabeth (Lisa) Carter

Passed away on September 27, 2021

She was a very special gift from God and she will be greatly missed here on earth, but we praise and thank God for creating her and sharing her with us for all these years.

Elizabeth (Lisa) Carter

Elizabeth (Lisa) Carter, 61, of Savannah, GA was taken home to join with the Angels and the Saints in eternal worship of a loving, merciful, and sovereign Father on Monday, September 27, 2021.  God had allowed Lisa to endure a series of baffling physical ailments for 2 ½ years while He walked by her side holding her hand, the Holy Spirit providing the strength and patience to endure all things with a smile and a positive word for all, until He finally called her home to meet her Savior, Jesus Christ, face to face.

Lisa was happy to call Savannah her home for her entire life, even though she could do without the heat and the gnats.  She graduated from Savannah Christian Preparatory School in 1978 and she was proud to earn four degrees from Armstrong  State University.  She worked for a number of years as a Registered Nurse.  She felt very blessed to be able to spend almost 15 years serving as a nurse at the VA Clinic taking care of veterans.  In 2007 God called her to set aside the nursing and take on the mantle of full time wife and mom, which she did gladly.

When she wasn’t focused on her immediate family, she was serving her extended family at Bethesda Academy (so many sons, so much fun) and Bull Street Baptist Church, her church home, her place to worship and to learn.  Serving faithfully in the nursery or somewhere behind the scenes, always encouraging someone with a hug, a prayer, and a “Go Blazers!” shouted from the sideline.

She is survived by her favorite husband Daniel Carter, their two sons, Daniel Carter, Jr. and Ian Carter, her mother Joyce Ann (Meme) Carter, her sister Julia Carter, and her brother William Carter (Orlando, FL).  Lisa was proceeded in death by her father, Dr. Burnham Carter.  She also leaves behind an extended family within the community that would be too numerous to specify individually.  Suffice it to say, there were few people that walked away from an encounter with Lisa that did not feel the joy and love of God that seemed to flow so effortlessly from her.

She was a very special gift from God and she will be greatly missed here on earth, but we praise and thank God for creating her and sharing her with us for all these years.  The world is a better place because she was here and heaven is now a better place because she is home.

A service to celebrate the life of Lisa Carter is set for Friday, October 1st, in the sanctuary of Bull Street Baptist Church, 1400 Bull Street, Savannah GA 31401.  We invite everyone to come and acclaim her Victory in Jesus.  A visitation period from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. followed by the service from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Savannah Humane Society, Bethesda Academy, or the charity of your choice.

Lisa is responsible for my 20 plus years at the VA Savannah as she hired me as a nurse there. She truly has a sweet, genuine spirit and you felt that when you were around her. One day, I was in her office and noticed something crawling down the side wall and on her desk..it was a spider and I showed it to her, "I know", she laughed..that's my little buddy..he's ok". That was so Lisa..

We shared some great times at Cabrini when the boys were young and loved sitting on the side lines for baseball and how you shared the grandparents! Lisa may you rest in glorious peace. You are a guardian angel.

To all of the Carter family, I am heartbroken to learn of Lisa's passing. Her smile lit the room with joy. Her faith was strong even as a child. Lisa was my first friend when I moved to Savannah. She had a kool-aid stand across the street the day we moved in in 1967. We shared many likes over the years...naming our various family pets and singing John Denver songs and hymns among them. Lisa loved camping with her family...minus the gnats. Lisa's gift was follow her faith in all her days. She will be remembered always as a child of God.
