Lester Morales

Passed away on September 15, 2021

Lester Morales

Lester Morales, 80, died peacefully in his home on September 15, 2021 surrounded by his loving wife, children and his dearest friends, Wilbur Calvo and Jeanette Sanchez. Lester Morales was born in Villa Canales, Guatemala on January 20, 1941. He grew up on a farm with his three brothers and two sisters. Lester had a love of all animals especially horses. He used to ride and train horses on his family farm until he left the farm to complete his secondary education in Guatemala City. Lester spent his twenties working in sales in Guatemala. As the political climate in Guatemala worsened in the 1970s, Lester and his brother Mario decided to head to the United States of America. Lester crossed the border into this country on September 14, 1973 with his brother Mario. Lester worked for over 35 years spending most of his career at Tryco Tool in Orange, New Jersey. Lester had an entrepreneurial spirit and created a small business he could work on the weekends called Lester’s Landscaping. Lester happily worked at least 6 days a week. He was always the first to arrive at work and the last to leave. About 12 years ago, he moved from New Jersey to Savannah, Georgia to be closer to his daughter. Lester cherished time with his family and friends. He was an avid gardener and loved being outdoors. Lester is preceded in death by his parents Benedicto and Dolores Morales.

He is survived by a loving and dedicated wife, Marta Gutierrez Cespedes; son, Eslim Lester Morales of Guatemala; daughter, Melissa K. Bouchillon and her husband, Kelly Bouchillon of Savannah, Georgia; son, Christopher Lester Morales of New Jersey; granddaughter, Bellamy Bouchillon; brothers, Marco Antonio, Miguel Alfonso, and Mario; sisters, Stella and Olympia; and many nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.

A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church on Friday September 17, 2021. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. Burial will follow at Greenwich Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Lester’s memory to Pegasus Riding Academy 2500 Tennessee Avenue, Savannah, Georgia 31404.
