Celebrating the life of
Robert Lee Byrd
November 17, 1947 - September 12, 2021
Robert Lee Byrd, 73, died peacefully on Sunday, September 12, 2021.
The lifelong resident of Savannah was born on November 17, 1947 to the late Ewell Samuel And Helen Scott Byrd. Robert was a graduate of Carlisle Military Academy and attended Brewton-Parker College. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and Alee Temple Patrol Unit.
Robert leaves behind a daughter and son-in law, Stephanie and Charlie Roy of Richmond Hill; brother, Sam Byrd (Linda) of Savannah; two grandchildren, Abbie and Hunter Roy; and four nephews, Russell Byrd (Lauren), Samuel Byrd, III (Gina), Albert Byrd (Margrit), and Randall Byrd (Kim).
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Lauren Byrd officiating. A private burial for the family will be held in Bonaventure Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Robert’s honor to the Morris Slotin Fund, C/O Alee Shrine Temple, P.O. Box 14147, Savannah, GA 31416.
