Celebrating the life of

Judy Biddle Whitaker

February 06, 1948 - August 31, 2021

Judy Biddle Whitaker

Judy Biddle Whitaker, age 73, of Savannah, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, in Savannah, Georgia, with her loving family at her side.  Judy was born February 6, 1948 and was the only daughter of the late George Alver Biddle and Mildred Henley Biddle of Johnson City, Tennessee.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Kenneth Lynn Whitaker also from Johnson City, Tennessee.

She was a Member of Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church.  She served as the President of the Ardsley Park/Chatham Crescent Garden Club and was currently serving as a Trustee on the Savannah Area Council of Garden Clubs, Inc. Botanical Gardens.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, COL, USA (RET) C. Paul Whitaker, Jr, of Savannah; two children, Leslie Whitaker Kennedy and husband William Altman Kennedy of Middleburg, Florida; Jeffrey Allan Whitaker and wife Polly Liles Whitaker of Johnson City, Tennessee; and three grandchildren, Luke Allan Whitaker, Grant Alver Whitaker, and William Altman Kennedy Jr.  She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Judy was the sweetest and most devoted daughter, wife, mother, friend and Mimi.  She always put everyone else first, caring for them and never wanting anything in return.  Her three grandsons were the love and light of her life.  She loved the beach, college football, boiled peanuts, Starbucks, antique store shopping and her sweet and cherished little dog, Ginger.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at the Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel with Reverend Rachel B. Greiner officiating.  The family will also receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. The graveside committal service will be held at the Telford United Methodist Church Cemetery in Telford, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Judy’s honor to the Savannah Area Council of Garden Clubs Botanical Gardens, 1388 Eisenhower Drive, Savannah, Georgia 31406.

We have known Judy for 20+ years since Jeff and Polly were married. She was a very special lady. Loved her family. A special Mimi to William, Luke, and Grant. Time on the beach with them meant so much to her. We will miss her and our hearts go out to Paul, Jeff and Polly, Leslie and Bill and the 3 grandsons. We wish could be there. Our prayers are with you. Love Diane and Art Pillman

I am a neighbor of Judy and Paul‘s in Ardsley Park. I met Judy through some circumstances in the neighborhood, and she was such a wonderful person… caring, and sharing, and always quick with a smile and a wave. I’m glad I got to meet her. I will miss seeing her about. So sad.

- Dietra, Savannah , Ga

We are deeply saddened by this news. Judy's presence could light up a room! She is so kind and always looked out for the well-being of others. She was our nearby neighbor in Ardsley Park, it was always so nice to stop and chat with her when I would see her outside. I know that she was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother -- we loved hearing stories about her family and about living in Savannah for so many years, and about her life in TN, and about Paul's time in the military. I also loved visiting her antique booths and chatting with her when she was working -- we both loved talking about antiques! I wish I had gotten to know her even better through the years. The world lost a truly beautiful soul. We will miss her terribly. Her husband, Paul, and all the rest of her family are in our hearts and prayers during this difficult time.

- Ball Family, Savannah , GA
