Marian Mason Isbell

Marian Mason Isbell

The lady with the sweetest smile, Marian Mason Isbell, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at her residence on Wilmington Island.  She was 93 years of age.

Mrs. Isbell, a native of Union, Mississippi, was a graduate of Athens State College in Athens, Alabama. At Athens College she met her future husband, Andrew J. “Jay” Isbell. In 67 years, they raised a family and impacted many young lives as teachers. They moved to LaFayette, Georgia in 1957, where she taught school until her retirement in 1986.  She received a Master’s degree from Berry College in Rome, Georgia.

Mrs. Isbell moved to Savannah in 1994.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of the Islands.

Marian is survived by siblings, Chloe Mason Luke, Lois Mason Williams, Jack Mason, and Charles Mason; sons, Ken (Tere), Andy; daughter, Carole Love (Pete), all of Savannah; daughter, Cheryl Bigham (Jerry) of Evans, GA; grandson, Mason Love (Maggie); granddaughter, Caitlin Love; great-grands, Adrian and Thomas Love, and numerous nephews and nieces.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Greenwich Cemetery.
