Celebrating the life of

David Ian Dauphinee, Sr.

February 09, 1960 - August 27, 2021

David Ian Dauphinee, Sr.

David Ian Dauphinee, Sr, 61, of Savannah, Georgia, went home to his Heavenly Father on Friday, August 27, 2021, after a long and courageous 11-year battle with cancer. He was greeted at the Pearly Gates of Heaven by his beloved son Dustin Graham Dauphinee, who preceded him in death.

David was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, CANADA, and was raised in Boston, Massachusetts, where he graduated from Somerville High School. He went on to serve in the US Army with the 1st Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment. He retired from the Savannah Police Department where he was a part of the TRAP Unit and a member of the SWAT Team (ERT). He was currently an active member of the ILA 1475 Clerks and Checkers.

David served his country and his community, but most of all he served his wife, his family, and his God. He enjoyed many things in life including all Boston sports teams, mentoring the youth, and sharing his testimony. But his true joy and happiness came from anything involving his children including football, hockey, dance, and hunting. He loved his family more than life and he adored his loving beautiful wife.

David leaves behind his wife of 38 years Dorothy “Dottie” Bell Dauphinee; daughter, Donna Lee Dauphinee; son, David “Ian” Dauphinee, Jr (Jamie); granddaughters, Kodie Lynn and Danie Graham; mother, Dianne Souza; father, David S. Dauphinee (Joyce); sisters, Deborah Finerty (Gerry), Christine Souza, and Dawnette Crosby; brothers, Dean Dauphinee (Wendy), Jason Dauphinee (Jessica), Justin Dauphinee, and Devin Dauphinee (Holly); several nieces and nephews; other family; many friends who were chosen family; and his beloved mastiff, Georgia Bell.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Calvary Baptist Temple, with a viewing from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. A graveside interment to be held later in the week for family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you consider donating to the American Cancer Society, or animal rescues such as One Love Animal Rescue of Savannah, Georgia.

Dearest Dottie, Donna, and Ian, It is heartbreaking to lose Dave. I'm so sorry and pray God's peace and comfort for you all. I can't help but remember the happy times being with Dave and you all. Hot sticky family reunions, get-togethers His teddy bear hugs, knowing he cared for all of your corney family; warts and all, his dry humor, and no Christmas was complete without his homemade banana bread!!! As I think of this sorrow and great loss now facing you; I know you find comfort in remembering the promises of Our Lord Jesus; and let us remember that great old church hymn, "When we all get to Heaven"; yes what a day of rejoicing that will be !!! We love you family We're here if you need us.

I never knew Mr. Dauphinee personally, only through his sons Dustin and Ian who I grew up playing hockey with. I will never forget how much pride and passion he showed for his sons everytime they were on the rink. Both of his sons are excellent men and I'm glad Mr. Dauphinee finally gets to be with Dustin in heaven. Thoughts and prayers to all of the Dauphinee family.

From the first time I met David as my SPD Field Training Officer in March of 1988, to the days of serving with David on the SPD ERT Team, I knew David was a warrior. David was a man of Honor, and man of Respect and Integrity, and a great human being. Over the years we had each other's back on many, many occasions. Thank you for looking out for me, being a mentor, and making me laugh...God he could make me laugh. The world is a sadder place without men like David Dauphinee....I will miss you my Brother in Blue.
