Celebrating the life of

Rodney Wayne Eason

March 17, 1954 - August 10, 2021

Rodney Wayne Eason

Rodney “Wayne” Eason, 67, died August 10, 2021, surrounded by family.

Wayne was born March 17, 1954, in Statesboro, Georgia, to Walter and Kathleen Eason.  He was destined to become a pilot, as he spent hours as a child listening to the banter of pilots on a CTAF hand-held radio.  At the mere age of sixteen, Wayne began his successful carrier as a pilot. He fueled his passion for flying by working for five different companies over the past fifty-one years receiving multiple awards and recognitions.  He dedicated twenty-seven of those years flying for Robert Baker (Baker Instructors Inc) where he was ultimately able to fulfill his life time goal of soaring the skies in a Gulfstream.  Wayne is wheels up for one last time leaving this earth for one final climb.

He is survived by his loving wife, Edie Eason, his sister, Amanda McKim (Mike), his son, Chad Eason (Brittany), his daughter, Jessica Allshouse, his two stepdaughters, Nancy Landry (Brooks) and Carrie Rountree and his eight beloved grandchildren who lovingly called him “Big Daddy”.

Please join us for a visitation for the celebration of Wayne’s life to be held at the home of his wife, Edie Eason, on Saturday, August 14 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Edie, I am touched by the loss of Wayne at such a comparatively young age. Your passion for flying matched his. You were a great support to him and he to you. I suspect that your compassion and understanding of people made for a very rich marriage. Paul Pressly

So saddened to hear of Wayne’s passing. I didn’t know he had been sick. He was one of my best buddies in high school and a neighborhood friend as well. I often think about all the things we did growing up. Wayne, Ted, and myself had lots of tales to tell about our times together as teenagers. We will keep you and your family in daily prayer in days and months to come. God Bless You All! Robert & Lisa Powell

I was shocked and saddened at the news of Wayne’s passing. Heaven has a new angle and I am sure he will be looking out for you Edith. We had some interesting conversations over the years on many topics. One thing for sure was his love of his family. Take care and God Bess you all. TKSheehan
