Lewis L. Johnson, Sr.

Lewis L. Johnson, Sr., age 75, passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at his residence on Wilmington Island, near Savannah, GA.  Lewis was born on July 12, 1946 to the late Roy and Roseanna Johnson in Sandy Hook, Kentucky.  He joined the United States Air Force at the age of 16 and served in the Vietnam War.  After serving in the military, Lewis became a civil service engineer at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, where he worked for the Department of Defense, and served as vice-president of Local 1922 AFGE.

Lewis was an avid fisherman, hunter, and all-around sportsman.  He was a former member of The Devil’s Wood Yard Hunting Club, and a former member of the Masonic Lodge.

Lewis leaves many loved ones to cherish his memories, including his loving wife, Elizabeth Johnson; three daughters, Angela Johnson, Brandy Johnson, and Sherry Johnson, all of Savannah; a son, Lewis L. Johnson, Jr. of Meldrim; a step-daughter, Jennifer Osborne, of Missouri; a grandson, Julian C. Smith, IV of Jacksonville, FL; a granddaughter, Hope Jackson (The Monster); three step-grandchildren, Anthony Osborne, Jr., Amber Osborne, and Aron Osborne, all of Missouri; two great-grandchildren, Cameron Osborne and Abree Osborne of Missouri; a brother, Gene Johnson of Sandy Hook, KY; and three sisters, Edith McVey, Mary Snipes, and Sherry O’Neal, all of Sandy Hook, KY; and numerous friends and people who cared about him.

The funeral service for Lewis Johnson will be held Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Islands Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors.

Burial will follow in Greenwich Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Monday, August 9, 2021 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
