Dear Chamblee family, we are absolutely heartbroken to see that we’ve lost Sue from this life. Our hearts are with your entire family. I hope Sue knew 1 millionth of how much she was loved and admired. She was the best adoptive mom Nathan could have had and we are eternally grateful for that.

A candle has been lit!

I just found out today about Susan’s death. I truly have lost a very special person in this life! I have SO many Susan stories from my years in Resource Development w Chatham County DFACS. Susan normally appeared w a big smile, the friendly comforting voice, and a hug. And I remember John and Susan’s mother. I remember most Susan’s huge heart and love for so many. And I knew she could be strict. She said enough and did enough to fill an entire universe. This world has lost another treasure but her story, love, devotion, clothes washed, meals cooked, medical visits and follow up, and her sparkling eyes and help from her family is a true love story. I will always remember her. Peace and God’s speed!

- David Bates, Orangeburg, SC

I am at a lost to hear this. I met Susan over 40 years ago when I came to work at CCDS. She helped me out a lot to learn what to do and how to interact with our population. Susan loved them. The most impressive Susan story I carry with me is her going out of her way to pick me up for work to make sure that I got there. She would even send John to take if she wasn't going. Susan was a wealth of knowledge and info on anything concerning the individuals she cared for, SCCPSS (schools) and the state of Ga. Cindy and I would laugh and say "if you want to know, just ask Susan." Love you CB Lorraine

A candle has been lit!

To the family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I will truly miss Sue. She was a true friend and an advocate who took my family and me under her wings. There will be none other like her sharing passion for others at such magnitude. There certainly had to be a crown waiting for her. My prayers are with each one of you during this time of your bereavement.
