Richard M. (Dick) Shaw

Richard Morrison “Dick” Shaw, 74, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Hospice Savannah after a brief illness.  Born on July 29, 1946, Dick spent his childhood in Rock Hill, SC.  He graduated from Rock Hill High School in 1964 and attended the University of South Carolina.  Upon finishing school, he joined the Army Reserves and was a member for six years.  He began his professional career in sales with Del Monte Foods in 1968.  With only a brief time running his dad’s grocery store in Rock Hill from 1976-1978, Dick continued his career in sales with Dixie Crystals Sugar from 1979-2013 when he retired after more than 30 years.

Dick was a member of the Savannah Country Club (formerly Wilmington Island Club) and Wilmington Island United Methodist Church.  He had several special loves in his life, with family first, but he especially loved his high school Kappa buddies, his golf buddies, and his Gin Club buddies.

Dick is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jane P. Shaw, his daughter, Robin Shaw Moore (Chris), his grandchildren, Elizabeth and Spencer, his sister-in-law, Anne Winslow, brother-in-law, Mark Plunkett (Marcia), nephews, and many cousins.
