Linton E. Gay, Jr.

Linton E. Gay, Jr., 85, died Saturday, November 23, 2019.  He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lynell W. Gay and his daughters, Brenda Fraser and Holly Davis.  Born on August 11, 1934, he was the son of Linton E. Gay, Sr. and Kathleen Allen Gay, and was a lifelong Savannahian.

An alumni of Georgia Tech, he served as longtime president of Steel Erectors, Inc. and later The Industrial Company until his retirement.  He served as chairman of the Private Industry Council.

A man of many interests, he studied chess, he built model ships, and was a passionate supporter of the Atlanta Braves, Georgia Southern Eagles football, and his Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.  He took great delight and pride in his grandchildren and their many accomplishments.

Surviving are his wife, Lynell Gay (Savannah); daughters and sons-in-law, Craig and Brenda Fraser (Severna Park, MD) and Bud and Holly Davis (Newnan, GA); four grandchildren, Andrew and Rosalind Fraser (Baltimore, MD) and Austin and Carson Davis (Newnan, GA); and nephews, Jeff Williams (Savannah) and Cliff Williams (Statesboro, GA).

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2019 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.

A graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Thunderbolt, GA at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2019.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests any remembrances be made in his memory to the Georgia Southern University Foundation.
