Mary Jeanette Lynch Low (Jenny)

Mary Jeanette Lynch Low (Jenny) 98, of Savannah, GA, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side, under the care of Hospice, and her dear caregiver, Ms. Zelma Frazier on June 12, 2021.  She was born on August 13,1922 in Los Angeles, CA, the daughter of Anselm Vincent Lynch and Johannah Marie Birnbach Lynch.  She was raised in Little Rock, AR, educated in parochial schools, and graduated from Mount St. Mary’s Academy.   She received a scholarship to Drawns Business College, and was employed by the U.S. Army Air Force at Adam’s Field in Little Rock, AR, and transferred to Red River Ordinance Depot near Texarkana, TX.  Jenny met her loving husband of more than 77 years, Lieutenant Avery Cobb Low Jr., during World War II, while he was stationed at the same depot.  They married soon in 1943, and after being separated more than two years during the war, they finally began their life together in Atlanta, GA in 1946.

She became a dedicated wife and exemplary Christian mother, and homemaker.  Highly skilled in design, Jenny made her homes and gardens distinct with her stylish flare and her own sewing.  She was active in all of her nine children’s parochial school events and other activities.  She instilled in her children the importance of family and community involvement, and encouraged their attainment of a good education.

The family moved to Savannah, GA in 1978.  Upon retirement, Jenny and Avery enjoyed gardening, family genealogy, and many adventurous trips exploring, and visiting relatives and sights around the world.  Vivacious and smart, she belonged to several bridge clubs, garden and book clubs and was active in the Republican Party.

Jenny was predeceased by her eldest son, Avery Cobb Low III of Decatur, GA.

She is survived by her husband, Avery Cobb Low Jr.; her children, Mary Jeanette McGurn, of Vancouver Island, BC, Canada, Priscilla Troy (Jim) of Woodacre, CA, Johannah Phagan (Jack) of St. Simons, GA, Rebecca Hayes of Sanford, NC, Charles Low (Cadence) of Albuquerque, NM, Lois Nightingale (Roger) of Palmer, TX, Charlotte Low Wright of Tucson, AZ, and Jamie Low of Atlanta, GA.;  she has eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
