Frederick (Ted) Conrade

Frederick “Ted” Conrade, 86, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

The New Kensington, PA, native was the son of the late Frederick and Louise Conrade. Ted was raised in Atlanta where he graduated from Grady High School. After his graduation from University of Georgia, Ted joined Merrill-Lynch, where he spent the majority of his brokerage career. 

Ted was very active in the Savannah community having been a member of the Savannah Golf Club for more than 59 years. He was a former member of the Savannah Yacht Club, The Oglethorpe Club, and The Chatham Club. Ted was a member of the German Heritage Society and many other civic organizations in the Savannah community. 

In addition to his parents, Ted was predeceased by a brother, Donald Conrade. 

Ted leaves behind his wife, Julia Oliver Conrade; two sons, Thompson and Guerry Conrade, both of Savannah; three stepchildren, Spencer Allen of Puerto Rico, Jim Allen of Cherry Hill, NJ, and Julia Onians of Atlanta; and six grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 in Bonaventure Cemetery with Father Gavin Dunbar officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances be made in Ted’s memory to St. John’s Church, 325 Bull Street, Savannah, GA 31401, or the Humane Society of Greater Savannah, 7215 Sallie Mood Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.

Before Ted met Julia and before I met Michelle, Ted and I worked together, played tennis and golf together ate lunch almost every day together . Where it says surrounded by family well the only Family... well I Thompson Conrade was the only Family around him.Ted went peacefully listening to his beloved UGA fight song. Squeezing my hand.
