Celebrating the life of

David Charles Hollingsworth

Passed away on June 10, 2021

David Charles Hollingsworth

David Charles Hollingsworth, 50, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Candler Hospital, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

The Savannah native was born on August 14, 1970 to the late John (Grady) and Margaret (Peggy) Hollingsworth. In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by a brother, Jeffery Grady Hollingworth.

David attended St. James Catholic School and Memorial Day School. While at Memorial, he was the star baseball player for the Matadors. David was offered a pitching position with the Atlanta Braves Farm Team; however, David chose to attend Middle Georgia State University, where he was a force to be reckoned with, pitching over 90 MPH with accuracy.

David was an employee by Kraton Corporation in Garden City. He loved sports and was especially dedicated to his Florida State Seminoles. Being with family and friends on College Game Days in the fall brought David so much joy. It was common for him to be grilling in his backyard wearing his Seminoles Jersey and loving the football rivalries. David also enjoyed Braves baseball, fishing, hunting, golfing, Kayaking, traveling, attending concerts, woodworking, and working in his yard.

David was an amazing brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. He was treasured by all who knew him and will be dearly missed. He was Daddy to his life companion, his loving Labrador, Murphy.

In addition to Murphy, he leaves behind a loving sister, Janet Barber (Bill); brother, Lee Hollingsworth; several nephews, nieces, and faithful friends.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

A celebration of David’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 18, 2021 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

In honor of David’s love for FSU football, the family asks that you consider wearing your best garnet and gold to the celebration of life.

David, we will miss you for sure. Our memories go back to when we were fortunate to share our home with you. You were a big brother to Brian and Jill. Our memories include stories we can tell (if we can remember them) and some stories that should remain a secret. You were a great friend to so many and your name will never be forgotten.

David, as you're getting acquainted in that next adventure. Remember being boys, best times knowing trouble and helping make the times amoung friends matter. I am glad for our times at St James and our teenage survival skills got us through figuring it out and having a laugh. Our times together were suppose to allow for some more fun. I have gotten this far knowing that, and that somewhere we were gonna be caught again having a laugh. I know there's always a way because we always got away with some really great times. I Love You and I am always gonna enjoy knowing our times as friends mattered. Give your Mom and Dad a Great Big Hug from me. I am so sorry you're skipping out these times we're in, I'm still attending this class without you. Save one for me, when we catch up. The principle will understand, as always.

To the Hollingsworth Family, my Condolences. I met David twenty five years ago here, then Union Camp now Kraton Inc. Over the years it was Sports talk ( F.S.U. ) with lots of Laughter, talking about our past time ( things we do ) a lot of Laughter, We worked with a whole lot of Laughter on our shift. We called each other Wingman. He and I worked together for several years as Operators, he was a Great Friend and work Buddy. We talked of doing an work podcast, but that ended up in us laughing our butts off because we would end up being fired for having to much fun at work. David would also treat us to some of his cooking, man that fried fish was outstanding and that smoke chicken was off the chain ( Good ). David was a good person. He will be missed, not just now but for long time. I want to thank his Family and friends for sharing David with us here at Kraton Chemical. WINGMAN keep them pitches low and inside. Your in the Big Leagues.......
