GUEST BOOK

Our hearts go out to you as we grieve with you, but also, we celebrate the amazing life Grant had. Grant always made everyone laugh with all his jokes, and he would do anything to help anyone. Even if he did not really know them. We all miss him already. Rest in peace, Grant! We all love you!!!

What a wonderful man and kind person Grant was. Even though we had the extreme pleasure of spending only a short amount of time with him and Lena during our infrequent visits to Savannah, we always felt that Grant was our lifelong friend. He simply shared his appreciation of life and friendship with you. We will always cherish the memories of playing Rummikub together, a game he and Lena taught and gave us as a gift. Grant so impressed us with his amazing game skills that we had to continue to be turned on to it in hopes of challenging him if we were to play with him again. We are so deeply saddened that we won't have a chance to do that. And I will always remember my last phone conversations with him after he so kindly took time to go to an open house, and then gave me his assessments. We were seriously contemplating on finding a retirement home in Savannah so we can be near family and friends we love, including Grant and Lena. How the quicksand of time took away that opportunity. Grant will sorely be missed. And our hearts are completely shattered knowing how painfully Lena and his family are grieving. All of you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Judi and I will greatly miss this kind , gentle, and caring soul . We had the opportunity to know Grant better during a visit when he and Lena were kind enough to put us up because Diane‘s house was overflowing. Staying with them, we discovered his amazing sense of humor and his great caring for others. Judi and I send our deepest condolences to Lena and family at this difficult time. They are in our thoughts and prayers. Judi and P.C. Wu

A candle has been lit!

I’ve known Grant close to 40 years. He was a smart, generous kind soul. He never said no to whatever you asked him. If he didn’t know something, he would find out what what the answer was. Even if he had to goggle it and take days to find the answer! He always helped Lena, whether in the kitchen making carrot cake, Christmas cookies or on the grill. He was a patient tutor to all the children and he made it fun for them. The children absolutely loved him! We will all miss this wonderful man. I’m proud to have called him ‘brother in law’ Rest In Peace Grant, we’ll see you on the other side. Love you and miss you already . Margie Yao Tybee Island

Without a doubt one of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. I aspire to be as good of a person as Grant was. He will be missed by so many people. I'll never forget how kind he was to me.

So very sorry for your loss. I’ll always remember Grant’s sense of humor, kind heart and his masterful organ playing! He was truly multitalented. I once mentioned an antique family radio from the ‘50’s that I loved, but it was broken. Grant went to the trouble of finding the exact radio tube and repaired that old radio good as new. He will be missed, but never forgotten. Sending you all condolences. God bless and Rest In Peace Grant.

Dear Lena. Even though we can't be there with you at the chapel service today to say our final goodbye to Grant, we're with you in our hearts feeling your hurt. Our minds can see that no amount of tissues can wipe away your tears and no words of comfort can take away your pain. I have asked Diana to give you a strong hug for us, in hopes that you will somehow find the strength to make it through this stormy day. Love Yi-ling and CW

Grant was a kind and gentle soul and a fierce protector of human rights and social justice who made a difference in so many ways, large and small. He made the most of life and will be sorely missed by so many. My sincere condolences to the family. Grant will forever hold a place in my heart!

I am so sad to just learn of Grant's passing. Grant and I were roommates at Rice and he was a good friend. We still tell the story of Grant's waking up as the rest of us returned from class to make lunch, and his commenting that it was strange to see up making tuna sandwiches for breakfast! He had spent most of the night at the Rice Computer, as usual. He was the only ham radio operator I have known, and it was fun to see that he still had his equipment when I visited him north of Dallas several years ago. Lena, I will sorely miss seeing you and Grant at the next Rice reunion.
