Michael A. Miller

Born on February 7, 1940, the only child of a Hungarian Jewish father and an Irish Catholic mother. He married Victoria Rains, who survives him, on June 9, 1962. He and Vicky have two children, Julie Gaffney and Scott Miller, and five grandchildren, Mary, Jennifer, Frank, Suzanne and Elena.  

He was a medic in the army in his younger years and a firefighter later in life.  In between, he became a successful newspaper editor and publisher.  

Husband, father, grandfather, musician, writer, businessman, athlete, orator, carpenter, marksman.  He survived cancer for 22 years through strength of mind, heart and will, a true force of nature.  

His family wishes that his legacy of eternal optimism inspires all of us to lift, laugh, commit, sacrifice, endure and hope for the people we love.  

Celebration of Life services to be held at Fox and Weeks Funeral Home, 7200 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah 31406, on June 2 at 3:37 pm.

Reception to follow at 4:59 pm at The Oakridge Club in The Landings, 11 Westcross Road, Savannah 31411.  

No flowers or donations please, but the family is honored for donations to be made to the charities of choice of our friends and family in Mike’s memory.
