Prayers for the family. I didn't see him or talk to him everyday but have know Oscar for almost 30 years when we worked at Palmer Johnson. - Lorrie stewart, Thunderbolt , Ga.

Having known Oscar since the early 90s through Palmer Johnson and Thunderbolt Marine both professionally and socially, his passing is certainly leaving a void in my world - as it is doing for so many others. My heart goes out to his family and to his friends who loved him and were loved by him, but he wouldn't want us to forget all the local establishments he frequented regaling stories, telling made-up jokes and laying down his one-liners at Coach's, Jalapenos, Tubby's, Wiley's, Joseph's and so many more. He'll be missed holding court with a glass of red wine in all these places, and by all of us. Oscar was most definitely one of a kind, a very special man who could always, always, always bring a smile to my face. Rest peacefully sweet man. You have my respect.

We lived on Thunderbolt until 2016 and first met Oscar around 2011, at Jalapeños on Wilmington Island. We got to talking to this sweet and friendly guy. He told us he worked at the Thunderbolt Marina and my husband had also worked at a marina years ago. My husband was also a Merchant Marine. They had a lot to talk about and Oscar took my husband several times on a tour of the Marina. I enjoyed talking to him about where he came from, where he had lived and his Mom. A truly loving son who adored his Mom. My husband's father had been in the Army and his family moved around a lot. Claude had a lot in common with Oscar.
