Lora Kathleen (McCain) Owens
Passed away on May 20, 2021
Lora Kathleen (McCain) Owens, age 55, was a vibrant spirited soul that matched her 6’1” frame. She was an adrenaline junky that dominated any setting be it whitewater rafting or speeding past the beach on her jet ski. After her father Tom McCain passed, Lora bravely helped raise her two siblings, Lisa and Ian, at just 16 years old. Lora spent more than a decade as a paramedic with the Chatham County EMS, then as a State of Georgia Parole Officer, then to being a DOD Counterintelligence Background Investigator.
The largest loss of Lora’s life occurred when her mother died on her birthday in 2017.
In the early morning hours of May 20th, 2021, Lora succumbed to her inner turmoil and took her own life.
Per her wishes, she will be cremated and a memorial will be held with close family and friends and Lora will be returned to the earth via the water that she loved.
Lora is survived by her husband of 18 years, Capt. David Owens, (SPD, ret.); her beloved sister, Lisa McCain and her brother, Ian McCain.
