Timothy Dewayne Atkins

November 12, 1968 - May 16, 2021

Timmy never met a stranger, and he was always friendly and willing to help anyone. Timmy was an avid outdoorsman, who loved boating and spending time on the water with his family and friends.

Timothy Dewayne Atkins of Savannah, Georgia passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 16th, 2021. He was born in Savannah on November 12, 1968, to Billy and Melissa Atkins.

Timmy was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Above all else he was an amazing father to Cody and Katie. Timmy loved to read, walk, talk, lift weights and could be seen frequently at the Islands YMCA. Timmy never met a stranger, and he was always friendly and willing to help anyone. Timmy was an avid outdoorsman, who loved boating and spending time on the water with his family and friends.

Timmy graduated from H.V. Jenkins high school in 1986.Timmy married his lovely wife Sarah Beth Scarborough March 10, 1990.
Timmy was preceded in death by his father William (Billy) Clayton Atkins.

Timmy worked 33 years for Georgia Power. He began his career working as a coal handler at Plant Riverside in Savannah. He spent majority of his career at Plant McIntosh working as a General Plant Operator.

Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years Sarah Beth Atkins, his devoted children N. Cody Atkins, Katie E. Atkins and Hunter Russell. His mother Melissa Sue Atkins and mother-in-law Phyllis Scarborough, brother Ricky Atkins and sister-in-law Dana Atkins and brother-in-law Kent Scarborough and Susan. Nieces and nephews, Mallory, Taylor, Adam, Alex, Brandon, T.R. and many close friends. 

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy East officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.

I worked with Timmy at McIntosh CC for several years. We both shared a love for the water. I remember many nightshifts talking about where to catch trout, redfish and the newest boats at the dock.
