Celebrating the life of

Bernice W. Falligant

March 27, 1941 - April 09, 2021

Bernice W. Falligant

Bernice W. Falligant was called to her heavenly home on April 9, 2021 while at St. Joseph’s Hospital following an extended illness.  She was surrounded by her loving and devoted family.

She was born in Saltville, Virginia on March 27, 1941 to her parents, Robert Lee Woodward and Juanita Talbert Woodward, who predeceased her.

Before moving to Savannah, she grew up in Saltville where she attended public schools where she excelled in academics and was vice-president of the Beta Club for three years.  She graduated from R.B. Worthy High School in 1960.

Bernice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who always put others and their needs first.  She was always the first to volunteer for any worthy cause, be it a church dinner, fund raiser, child care or helping those in need.  She was in leadership roles in her daughter’s Brownie Troup and the Girl Scouts of America.

Bernice loved Bible Studies and took an active role in several groups, including The Bible Study Fellowship.  She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, and travel.  Her many pets that her family had over the years were a great source of comfort to her.

In her later life, Bernice and her husband devoted themselves to rearing their grandchild Joseph from age four to adulthood.  Bernice’s commitment to him was steadfast and unwavering as she shepherded Joseph through private schools, tutoring, athletics, summer camps in North Carolina, golf, and swimming lessons, Disney cruises, and many opportunities that few children enjoy.

Throughout her life and her last illness, she was never heard to complain, being sustained by her love of the Lord, and her family.

Bernice is survived by her husband Robert E. Falligant, Jr., daughter’s, Sarah Morgan, Stephanie Grist (Billy), stepchildren, Robert Rentz, Lisa Lane, sister, Mary Hogston, grandchild, Joseph B. Donaldson, and several nieces and nephews.

A private service was held at Greenwich Cemetery on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 with Rev. Ben Gosden, Senior Pastor, Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating.

Remembrances or a donation in her memory may be made to, The Savannah Center for the Blind and Low Vision, 1141 Cornell Ave, Savannah, GA 31406, or Trinity United Methodist Church, 225 West President Street, Savannah, GA 31401.
